Goodbye for 2022: Winter closure from Thursday, 20:00

After a long riding season in Ötztal valley it is time to say goodbye – at least for this year: Snow and cold are coming and as of Thursday, 3rd November, 20:00, the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road is taking a winter break.

Exceptionally long-lasting sunny and warm days caused real late summer vibes in many places this autumn. Also in the furthest corner of the Ötztal valley, many tourists took the opportunity to visit the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road with its endless curves, fantastic views and exciting attractions. “Thanks to the great weather, this season was an unusually long one – until November, which is actually very rare. However, the last three to four years we have repeatedly been lucky”, says Manfred Tschopfer, chairman of the Timmelsjoch Hochalpenstraße AG, about the successful season. As every year, also the most beautiful summer comes to an end and gives way to the cold season: Winter is on its way to Tyrol this weekend. Therefore, the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road will switch to hibernation mode for 2022 and close on Thursday at 20:00. The road link to South Tyrol traditionally reopens at the end of May or beginning of June 2023 – depending on the weather conditions.

We want to thank all of our visitors and wish you a beautiful, accident-free winter!
